152 Front end shunt. The old owner was not a happy bunny. He blamed it on his wife! | 153 | 154 Slightly shorter! | 155 Nice rear though! | 156
157 | 158 | 161 | 162 | 163 I hope to be able to use the tacho / revcounter with my new electric motor, but despite hours on the 'net I can't find out what signal (and what sort of signal) it received from the 3 cylinder engine. Was it one pulse per rev, 1.5 pulses per rev, a pulse ever time a spark plug sparked? And is it a 12v sq wave? Anyone out there know? BTW. I have found a hall effect sensor that will send out a 5 to 12v square wave from a collar mouted on the motor shaft, 1 pulse per rev.
164 The turbo scoop! Since the car's bonnet was crushed I scrapped the bonnet but kept the scoop. I found anearly mint blue bonnet on craigslist for $35, and when all is finished I intend to fit the scoop to it where I can duct the airflow over the controller heatsink. | 1645 Waving goodbye to the turbo 1.0l 3 cylinder. Thanks to Carneys Waste for the use of the truck and hoist. | 1646 After removing the engine and cutting away most of the damage. Also after test fitting new crumple zones and part of the driver side headlamp suround from a donor car. | 1647 Gearbox mount dropped 3/4 inches to clear battery box. The red adapter plate will mount the electric motor to the existing gearbox. | 1648 Gearbox mount dropped 3/4 inches to clear battery box.
1649 Gearbox mount dropped 3/4 inches to clear battery box. | 1650 After welding in new crumple zones and top crossmember from donor car. And after 5 coats of paint. Note the towing bar and TurbineTech strut tower tie bar. | 1652 | 1653 After welding in new crumple zone and top crossmember from donor car. And, after 5 coats of paint. | 1655 Test fitting the flywheel adapter from CEV. The adapter boss they supplied was tapped for unf threads. The Firefly is metric, so the flywheel bolts didn't fit... Isn't Canada meant to be METRIC too??? GRRR! It appears that all the adaptors available from EV conversion companies are made in the US and all have UNF threads.. The WORLD is METRIC.. I wonder why they are taking so long to catch on!
